Eldridge Sponsors KHHS in the BP MS 150

MS 150 at KHHSThis year Eldridge is sponsoring KIPP Houston High School’s participation in the 2015 BP MS 150.

This two-day fundraising bike ride is the largest of its kind in the United States. Organized by the National MS Society South Central Region, the 2015 event hopes to bring in $21 million dollars to support research to cure Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

MS is a disease of the central nervous system. It is a debilitating disease that scientists still don’t understand—its cause is still unknown. The symptoms vary from person to person, and can even vary in intensity, making diagnosis difficult.

MS 150 at KHHSSince 1985, the BP MS 150 has challenged cyclists to raise awareness by fundraising and participating in the 150-mile ride from Houston to Austin, TX. Participants start riding on Saturday morning, camp out for the night in La Grange, and they continue their journey to Austin on Sunday morning.

The BP MS 150 is a strenuous ride that requires many months of preparation. The team of students and teacher chaperones at KIPP Houston High School has been practicing nearly every Saturday since October. Eldridge is proud of the work they’ve done to advocate for MS research and the commitment they’ve made to bettering the lives of those living with MS. We are happy to support their expedition and wish them the best of luck for a safe trip.

Update: Monday, April 20, 2015

Despite the cancellation of Day 1 of the event due to severe thunderstorms and flooding, the KHHS team started their journey in La Grange on Sunday along with 11,000 other enthusiastic participants. The weather cooperated all day and all the riders had a great time.

We are proud of all the organizers, riders, and volunteers involved in making this fundraiser a success. If you haven’t donated yet, you can still help the National MS Society reach their fundraising goal by making a donation today.
