Protecting Equipment

Our passion at Eldridge is creating better environments with superior ventilation.  We spend a lot of time focusing on creating better environments by providing comfort cooling and comfort heating for workers.  It is equally as important to create better environments by protecting equipment and allowing it to operate reliably and efficiently at all times for our customers.  When an OEM customer needed to protect the air intake for its motors from extreme weather, Eldridge had the right product for the job.

Common Goal

Our OEM customer builds a variety of products that provide a clean and cool environment for electric motors used on land-based drilling rigs.  The primary function of their products is to continuously blow a stream of clean ambient air across an electric motor.  What they needed was a louver on their air intake that would not allow wind driven rain to enter their system.  The consequences of not preventing water infiltration could be the failure of their electric motor and the drilling rig it was meant to keep operational.

ESL Louver Solution

The Eldridge ESL louver was originally designed to prevent water infiltration through the air intakes for ventilation systems on offshore drilling rigs.  Since we have used it successfully in these harsh offshore environments, we knew our ESL louver would provide the system protection that our OEM customer needed.  However, because of the substantial consequences of a failure, we were not surprised when our customer asked that we put our louver through testing to determine whether it could do what we guaranteed it would do.  The testing confirmed that the Eldridge ESL louver could prevent water infiltration from wind driven rain up to 150% of the limit set by our OEM customer.

Conclusion

Today, our OEM customer exclusively uses the Eldridge ESL louver on all of their systems.  The customer has a well-earned reputation for protecting equipment, such as electric drilling motors, in part, due to the ESL louver preventing water from damaging the motor during heavy rainstorms.

No matter how an environment needs to be improved with better ventilation, Eldridge has the experience, technical know-how and reliable products to make it happen.
