Before the introduction of variable frequency drives (VFDs) in the early 1980’s, the only option for controlling fan motor speed was to build a motor with two different speeds. The problem with two speed motors is that they were expense and had very long manufacturing lead times. VFDs with current technology can cost effectively control …

Ventilation systems help keep facilities cool, comfortable, and safe. They help protect workers from extreme temperatures and also help facilitate removing contaminants from the air. However, they can also be quite noisy. Excessive noise can cause a lot of trouble for your facility, such as permanent hearing loss for workers, safety concerns, and other issues. …

When workers are in an environment that is safe, comfortable and productive and the company realizes a financial benefit for providing those working conditions, that is what we refer to as a successful environment. If you are in need of a whole facility solution for comfort cooling, let Eldridge show you how investing in Cambridge Air Solutions’ IEC units can create a successful environment in your facility.

To create a successful environment where workers are healthy, comfortable and productive, an industrial ventilation system must begin with the goal of making the inside temperature the same as the outside temperature. With the right number of air changes, the ventilation system will remove the solar and internal heat loads that create dangerous working conditions. But what can be done if after removing these heat loads, the inside temperature is still very hot? The solution is to add spot cooling equipment that can provide additional heat relief. In this article, I will discuss three spot cooling solutions that we recommend to our customers.

Looking for a simple, low-cost way to help control indoor temperatures and air quality? A gravity ventilation system maybe the solution for your application. This type of ventilation system has been around for about as long as humans have been building enclosed structures. Whether you want to add a gravity ventilation system to a new …

Louvers are a critical ventilation component for an industrial ventilation system. They allow air to pass through them while keeping out unwanted elements such as water, dirt and debris when fitted with filters. Selecting the right louver for an application requires knowing how to navigate through all of the options and then sizing it properly …

The ability to read a fan curve has become a dying skill set. With the introduction of fan selection software, fan selection has become as easy as entering the required inputs and then letting the software interpret which fan is best suited for the operating conditions. But, what will someone do if years after the …

An airplane hangar can be a very hot place to work during a Texas summer. The perfect combination of solar heat load, a metal skinned building and no air movement was driving the inside temperature to intolerable levels. Before their employees had to endure another summer working in the excess heat, this airplane hangar owner …

Heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are all a concern as temperatures rise for the summer. Industrial fans and ventilation systems can help keep workers cool to reduce the risk of health and safety hazards from extreme heat. Hot environments can cause overheating, which can lead to heat-related illnesses and even heat-related death. Overheating can also …
